Feats of Exploration

Feats of Exploration is an alternate reward system for your favorite XP-based tabletop roleplaying game!

Don't just dole out XP for monsters defeated and treasure gained; award concrete and systemitized XP for specific exploration activities that help to encourage the old-school play style. Examples include:

• Completing quests
• Overcoming traps
• Utilizing equipment in creative ways
• Manipulating NPCs
• Applying lore
• Finding secret doors
• ... and many more!

Reward your players for quick thinking, uncovering secrets, paying attention to detail, and a multitude of other exploration-based activities. Each Feat corresponds with a percentage value based on how much XP a PC needs to gain a new level, and the whole party benefits each time a Feat is achieved!

This framework for awarding experience slots seamlessly into the existing XP reward system of Old-School Essentials and many other classic iterations of the world’s first roleplaying game.

Feats of Exploration has been thoroughly playtested as a fully integrated subsystem in 3d6 Down the Line's Halls of Arden Vul actual play series.
